2019 Restoration Activities

  • Rebuilt Fog Signal stairway ceiling that had been damaged by water intrusion
  • Built wood storage shelves in the Fog Signal Building and relocated true dimension lumber from the boathouse to save it from anticipated high water
  • Began plaster stabilization in 1867 lighthouse
  • Scraped and primed rear Assistant Keeper’s portico
  • Installed recreated stairway finials in Assistant Keeper’s Quarters
  • Rebuilt Assistant Keepers basement window frame and installed restored window
  • Installed restored bathroom window in Assistant Keeper’s west apartment
  • Recreated and installed missing cutting board in Lighthouse kitchen
  • Installed recreated lighthouse front door
  • Locating and installed missing shutter dogs on tower shutters
  • Installed additional window hardware in 1867 Lighthouse
  • Began restoration of screen doors salvaged from the original “lean to”
  • Replaced stone under Skeletal Tower, long lost in decades of vegetation growth
  • Cleared hillside between workshop and Assistant Keeper’s
